Honoring Grief & Loss Through Creative Expression
Saturday, November 7th
A Sacred Invitation to honor your grief through song, movement, breath and painting.
I believe everyone has a story to tell…and usually this story (or stories) involve some heartbreak, setback, grief and a dying of something.
Perhaps a death of a season, an identity, a relationship or a part of who we once were.
The death of a dream that was so dear to our hearts.
A death of a beloved.
Our world moves at such a fast past that even the big heartbreaks don’t get the honoring they deserve.
I believe that ritual, movement, song, art, storytelling and breath are vital to really process and digest the losses we experience.
To Slow Down and just feel.
Lord knows, we do not talk about, feel about grief enough in our world. I’m doing my part to change that because life on the other side of grief is more rich and the wisdom gained is invaluable.
It’s so easy for grief to get stuck in our bodies.
Talking about it helps but moving our bodies does even more.
Using creativity to give a vehicle for our grief to be felt and expressed is incredibly healing.
This is for anyone who has experienced a loss.
This is not only a death of a beloved but also:
Missed milestones
Loss of loved one through dementia, addiction or mental illness
Death of a Pet
Dreams not realized
Divorce / Breakup
Illness /Surgery
Infertility / Miscarriage
Loss of feeling safe in the world
Retirement
Empty Nest
Financial Loss / Bankruptcy
Loss of Freedom / Immigration Status
Creative Expression
The invitation is to be intuitively guided by the movement of your body and the energy of the song. This isn’t about performance. It is letting go of the mind & letting the grief be felt, digested & released.
Song & Movement
This is an active breathwork circle. You will be breathing deeply for 30 minutes. This is a highly refined, intuitive process that will take you on an inner journey. It is cathartic & deeply healing.
Breath
Painting is a beautiful way to let what no words can say. Letting the colors speak for you. Allowing the brushstrokes to sooth your heart.

My Story:
“Wade into the water with me. Your ocean of unbearable sadness and grief. Come with me and we will ebb and flow with the tide. I will be right here with you,” said my therapist to me today.
“I know you are frightened. I know you don’t trust me to hold the enormity of your grief. Your profound sadness of losing the chance to have children. Of going into early menopause. Of infertility. But the ocean will hold you and I will be right here with you.”
The tears fell like raindrops down my cheeks, as I accessed my pure, raw human emotions and just sat in the pain. Without trying to fix it, justify it or understand why it happened or why it was so beautifully matched for my soul or searching for any solution.
It was just me and my therapist in the ocean of my sadness. Grieving the death of my greatest dream in this life, my greatest wish, my most beloved treasure.
This has been such a lonely journey for me. I had isolated myself on a tiny island with my vast ocean of grief all around me. Spending the last two years sitting on the shore alone just looking out into the ocean of my grief. Unable to even dip my toe in. It was too much. Indescribable heartache. Shock and disbelief.
Healing is not linear. It is complex and multi-dimensional. I have spent a great deal of this time judging myself and my feelings and resisting the enormous pain. I had tried to move through it but my heart wasn’t truly ready until now.
We will all go through enormous heartache in this life. It is our curriculum. We will feel the deepest, darkest pain. Our only job is to fully feel it. No judging it, bypassing it, launching into love and light, justifying it or numbing it.
Just wade silently into the ocean of your sadness. Ebb and flow with the tide. Allow the ocean to hold you. Allow the fluidity of the ocean to bring gentle, soothing, healing waters into your heart.
I’ll meet you there.
